He can't build the vehicles by himself but that doesn't bother us as we get down on the floor and play with him anyway. The part that hooks up the bulldozer to the vehicle got kind of bent so it doesn't stay on as well as it did, but we're planning on buying a second set anyway so he can build more of the vehicles at once that are listed in the booklet. You can build all three of the vehicles pictured at once with what is in the box, but if you lose parts (like we have)you can't and you'll have to be a bit more creative with your building skills. This is by far his favorite Christmas present. I wish Lego would come up with more sets like this that are fairly simple for younger children (and their parents).

He loves all the fun inside (the city) and kids can put a lot of imagination into playing with this. His mom saves all the directions to his different Lego's and when he's ready to put one together, he just takes the parts he needs out. When he's finished playing, in the ZipBin they go. This ZipBin is great for several reasons and he loves it!

Review by Rebecca Menes for LEGO® Road Construction Set (6187) Rating: This is a great first big-boy (and big-girl) lego set. Our three year old loves it. I put the chassis and wheels together, and he can "decorate" the vehicles with the extra brick. I think he will play with this set for years.

But shame on the seller for charging $40. This set is available direct from Lego at http://shop.lego.com/ for only 19.99

A pillow to snooze on and a great buddy overall. He likes to take him now on any "trip" we take that we will be in the car for an hour or more.

I emailed the company but they never responded. I then called and they acted like they were doing me a huge favor by allowing me to send it back while I pay for shipping. THey also said the only reason they were allowing me to send it back was b/c I was within the 30 days but still my problem to pay the shipping expense. It would have cost me 1/2 the price of the actual pillow pet if I sent it back to get a new one. I never sent it and am now stuck with a defective pillow pet. I'm a business owner and go above and beyond, especially if a customer gets a defective product! I recommend getting a pillow pet knockoff at one of those stands in the mall.

We sat down and worked through the well-diagrammed instructions to build the dump truck, loader, and steam roller in little more than an hour the first time, about 30 minutes the second time. He did it with very little help considering he's newly 4. I would tell him, "find a skinny red piece with 4 bumps" (good for counting and description). He'd find it, then look at the picture and he'd figure out where it went with minimal help (good for following directions). There are several pieces left over to scoop up and put in the dump truck or to build other things. The booklet gives detailed instructions to build the three vehicles pictured, and shows pictures for various other things you *could* build, but they're too complex to just "figure it out" without directions, (that's why I decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5) so basically you just have a bunch of extra Legos to make houses or scoop-and-dump. But the good thing is you can make all three vehicles at the same time--you don't have to take one apart to use the pieces to make the other. It's been 8 months now and we haven't lost any of the tiny little pieces, but only because we have a canister vacuum and because we try to dump them out into a jelly roll pan when we play with them. In the last 8 months, these Legos have been out nearly ever day.
